Why Do We Celebrate Michael Jackson’s Death So Passionately..?
when we have American soldiers dieing every day serving our country.
And they are hardly recognized..
What has Michael done for America besides “give children milk and cookies in bed?”

Amen to what you’re saying!! I think our true celebrities are the ones that gave people like Michael Jackson the freedom to be famous. It is quite sad, but we live in a terrible society.
A society in which the media and celebrities are constantly the most important in our lives. I totally agree with you and I believe our soldiers are the ones that deserve the right to walk a red carpet, they deserve the recognition of Brad and Angelina.
They are saving our lives. Bottom line.
AMEN TO THAT!! Our soldiers are over there in the Afghanistan and Iraq, putting their lives on the line and serving our country and all this country has on their minds is MJ!! ENOUGH ALREADY!! He was NO better than the rest of us! He was a human being like every other person on this earth!! His money, wealth and fame didn’t make him any better of a person than anyone else and for him to be worshipped like God Himself, it’s pathetic!! MJ couldn’t walk on water, heal the sick or perform miracles – gimme a break! It’s sickening how this country and the world goes cuckoo over another human being, treating him like he did wonders for the world – and the truth is, he didn’t do any humanitarian work – never gave any of his money to charities and NEVER visited our soldiers or even gave credit to our soldiers ’cause he was so wrapped up in himself and his fame.
What also sickens me is the fact that sooooo many people, including the media, raked him over the coals and dragged his name through the mud and then some during the court trial, but now that he’s died, those that ‘hated’ him have done a complete about-face and NOW, they LOVE him!! Disgusting how the media has convinced many that he was a freak and ‘whacko Jacko’, but after his death, even those that ridiculed him are HUGE fans all of a sudden – talk about hypocrits!!
Well, for one thing and most importantly, he was nothing more than a human being like the rest of us! His fame, fortune and money didn’t make him ANY better than the next person! It disgusts me how people go so ga-ga over him just because he’s known all over the world! People have worshipped him like he’s God, but he’s NOT! God created the world and humankind – NOT MJ!! Jesus Christ walked on water and healed the sick – NOT MJ. The rest of us, when we die, are nothing more than a mere statistic – another teeny-weeny little listing in the obit section in the local paper, but when someone famous and rich like MJ dies, holy cow – the world goes nutsy-cuckoo!! Disgusting how popularity and money, fame and fortune takes you beyond the level of mere humanity – puts them on the highest pedestal in the world!
Secondly, he destroyed himself – all that he did – the drugs, allowing little boys to sleep with him, etc. was all on his own free will and choice! What he did to his body, taking all those drugs, was his OWN doing – no one forced him to take all those drugs.
Thirdly, his death and ‘worship service’ overshadowed the soldiers putting their lives on the line in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere! They’re fighting for our freedom and security as well as for the people of those countries and who takes over the airwaves even after death?? MJ!! Disgusting how the more important issues in the country and around the world are shrugged off when someone like MJ passes away, just because of his mere fame, money and popularity! Did he enlist in the military and put HIS life on the line for his country?? Did he ever give any money to charities?? I don’t recall him EVER giving any of his money to the needy, poor and less-fortunate!! And people worship this guy like he’s God??
I have a better idea.
To: US Congress
we the undersigned petition …
Request a Moment of Silence for all Service Members Killed in Action
Recently a pop culture icon died and was given a “Moment of Silence” in Congress. In support of our national heroes never being forgotten, we request that from here on out, that Congress give every American Service member Killed in Action, the proper respect by honoring them individually with a Moment of Silence.
Sincerely,http://www.petitiononline.com/Silence/
The reruns of past All-Star baseball games on ESPN today were far more entertaining, and far more relevant.
Jackson was a pedophile junkie who never matured past the level of an eight year old. His biggest contribution to America was showing the continued stupidity of star-struck California juries.
I’d bet that all the mourners today wouldn’t have left their children overnight with this freak.
Same for any celebrity. The worship of celebrity is the salve for the pathetic lives of many.
It is our perverse culture. Notice that nearly every grocery store checkout has Us, People, and other garbage publications where you cannot help but pass by them. To get Newseek, Time, The Economist, or anything of substance you must go our of your way.
I’d say our values are backwards..or have been engineered to be so.
Watch “Century of the Self” on google video and you will understand how this happened.
It is a four hour investment in time but will open your eyes forever.
He was a decent musician, but I never understood his popularity, there are better musicians who haven’t gotten a fraction of the coverage in the media. Seriously, I think if Obama died at the same time as MJ, the media would spend most of their time covering MJ.
you forgot to mention,
1. hasn’t made a hit album since 1992!!!
I agree, lets see how much coverage Billy graham gets when he dies..
or how about Johnny cash or james brown, who were super popular and did nto molest children either.
We do not. The media and people who like soap operas and mtv do. It is pathetic. Several people die every second and we take weeks to glorify that one person.
seriously, I don’t even like Michael but I’m constantly force fed his memorial and everyone mourning. THE GUY MOLESTED CHILDREN AND WE ARE MOURNING HIM. Lets pay respects to those who deserve it.
Good Question …..
It’s called placing a pedophile on a pedestal.
The media is driving it to hide the fact that Obama’s policies are failing.
thats the media for you
it has a very liberal bias
Grab his crotch
It’s true, we have an odd way of choosing our heroes.
Michael has donated more money to so many multiple charities that they need to name a charity after him. He helped so many sick people. He sang songs of help and change like Man in the Mirror, Heal the World, and We are the world. Michael Jackson was also the first african american to have a video featured on MTV.
But you’re right, there has been thousands of soldier deaths under the Bush administation but if you’re a Fox watcher you probably never saw them mentioned because that made Bush and republicans look bad.
haha silly you.MJ contributed so much to charity that none of us has done and he was peaceful man and yeah the soldiers are going for war and as matter of fact people in that part of the world don’t want american soldiers.
Well michael has done a lot in charity work and helping children with medical problems. His music was awesome, and don’t forget, he was only 50!
Oh and mite i remind you, he is the king of pop!
Not that he’s one of my most favored people, but pay attention chick, he was a major cultural icon. That’s why.
No
You are wrong.
Why are you not fighting in Iraq today?
